Tower Hamlets teachers got to the residential...

Friday 8th January 2016.

Leaving Bonner School to travel to the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire to meet with colleagues travelling across the United Kingdom, and those from Palestine. Arriving in Kidderminster in the dark and wet, in search of the bus station, we approached a random man standing on a street corner to ask for directions. After indicating the direction of the bus station he then said for us to follow him in the opposite direction.....as a car pulled up he spoke to the driver (who turned out to be his wife, Sue) and asked her to use her phone to search the bus time table..he then invited us to put our bags in their car boot, and then  proceeded to drive us all the way to Cleobury Mortimer (a 40 minute drive, out of their way), dropping us, at our request, at the first pub "The Old Lion Inn". After a couple of restorative pints (wisely taken as the centre is 'dry'!) we asked the bar staff if there was a cab company in the village (not fancying a 40 minute traipse up the hill in the rain with our bags). We were amazed when the landlady, Emma, offered to drive us up to the Pioneer Centre herself. Overwhelmed by the positive and generous souls we have encountered in our journey so far. Obviously we would not recommend this course of action to our students or colleagues but it made us feel very blessed. A good omen for this project????

Lindsay and Tracy.
